As reported by Khaleej Times this morning, there has been a recommendation made by one of the top Dubai police officials they are looking to stamp down on a number of things a motorist do that could constitute as dangerous driving habits.
Eating, drinking, using mobile phones, applying make-up, reading, watching television, taking selfies and smoking are all considered a violation of traffic. Failure by the drivers to concentrate on the road by getting busy with other things can land them a hefty fine of AED 1000 & 12 Black Points.
He further stated, “The police would be authorized to penalize offending drivers who are involved in such offenses and the officer in question would determine the nature of the offense and the fine”. The offender’s vehicle could be impounded if the offense proved to be endangering human lives.
Although the initial concept of drive-thru fast food was to order your food without having to leave your car we have been accustomed to using drive-thru services to save time and have our meals on the go.
It might be wise to get used to the right way of doing things not just to avoid paying fines but also for the well-being of our own as well as the safety of other drivers and pedestrians.
